Appearance and properties
Yellow flake, poisonous, easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, not soluble in ether. Its aqueous solution is strongly basic and it is easily oxidized in air.
Sodium sulphide applications:
1). As reducing agent or mordant agent in making sulphur dyes.
2). As flotation agent in non-ferrous metallurgical industry.
3). In tanner industry.
4). Used as mordant agent for cotton dying.
5). In pharmacy industry making some phenacetin.
6). In electroplate industry, for hydriding galvanize
Storage and transportation conditions
Should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated area;
Keep away from ignition sources, heat and flame;
Packing encapsulation;
Should be divided with oxidants, acids, avoiding mixing storage;
Shouldn't be stored for a long time lest metamorphism;
Equipped with corresponding varieties and amount of fire-fighting equipment;
Storage area should be equipped with stuff to contain releases.
Harms
For health: It will decompose hydrogen sulfide and leads to hydrogen sulfide poisoning. It has corrosion effect to skin and eyes.
Emergence Treatment
Skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing, with plenty of liquid water rinse with at least 15 minutes.
Eye contact: Immediately filed palpebral, with plenty of liquid water or saline thoroughly flushed at least 15 minutes
Inhalation: Quickly stay away from the field and go to the place with fresh air to keep respiratory tract unobstructed; If breathing is difficult, give oxygen; If immediately stopped breathing, perform mouth-to-mouth breathing.
Ingestion: Gargle with water and drink milk or egg white
